Description Petty Officers Rank Badge The Petty Officers rank badge is equivalent to an army sergeant and is the lowest of the Senior Rates in the Royal Navy. During the WW2 it was commonly worn as an embroidered badge on the sleeve, which were produced in gold thread for best uniforms and in red for everyday working uniform.
